No one likes big corporations, but the Umbrella Corporation from 2002's adaptation of the Resident Evil franchise wasn't quite the villain it was made out to be.

Sure, they were experimenting with some incredibly dangerous substances, but they were doing so in an underground facility so secure that it went into murderous lockdown the moment something went wrong.

While we are led to believe that Alice and her friends are the good guys, they're fighting against the system designed to keep the virus from reaching the surface, and it's hard to see how anyone could believe that an AI designed to protect the world from the release of a deadly virus is actually the villain.

The decision to send commandos into the facility was the worst thing the Umbrella Corporation did during the movie's runtime, but the worst offenders really are the people fighting to get back to the surface even after coming into contact with the virus.

While Umbrella undoubtedly has some evil motives, in the first movie in the franchise they really weren't in the wrong, and it's all too easy to forget that.
