1. Han Solo's Death - Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
Knowing ahead of time didnt make this twist any less upsetting, but most fans knew - upon hearing news Harrison Ford was returning for Episode VII Han Solo was a dead man. Ford had distanced himself from the saga since he finished Return Of The Jedi, where he famously wanted Solo to die before Lucas vetoed the idea. So when he signed up, it didnt take much detective work to guess it would be Solos final adventure. They didnt know the exact details of how it would happen, or how Kylo Ren would play into it, but it was all but guaranteed. To Fords credit, he really put in the work, and his performance is probably the most engaged hes been onscreen in at least a decade. Solos last scene, confronting his estranged son on a bridge, was the emotional core of the movie, and even though the outcome was inevitable it still caused gasps when that lightsaber went through his chest.
