9 Smartest Decisions In Action Movie History

7. Tremors - Rescuing Burt And Heather

There are two stars of the Tremors series - the underground pre-Cambrian worms (eventually known as Graboids) and Burt Gummer. But things could have gone a lot differently with one minor change in plan in the first movie. When the graboids begin picking off the few humans living in Perfection Valley, Nevada, it falls on a plucky pair of handymen and a seismologist grad student to save the day. And they, really, are stupidly effective. Literally - most of their early successes are pure dumb luck.

The great aspect of the original Temors is the fact the audience learns the capabilities of the graboids alongside the zany cast. And in a surprising feat for what was originally built as a horror franchise, most of the cast submit to making excellent decisions throughout the film. Those who don't die early on, after all.

At one point they have to make a pivotal decision: Take a bulldozer straight into the mountains and make it to the next town over to get help, or take a small detour to rescue the eccentric surviv Gummers, played by Michael Gross and country music star Reba McEntire. Aside from giving Gross the chance to play Gummer in six sequels, the only reason the rest of the group survive is because of the Gummers' excessive number of home-made explosives.
