9 Smartest Decisions In Action Movie History
5. Security - Giving Up Authority To Antonio Banderas
Security is a 2017 straight-to-Netflix film wherein Antonio Banderas portrays a former U.S. Marine Corps Captain with severe PTSD. Banderas' character, Eddie, takes a minimum wage job as an overnight mall security guard because his failure in psychological evaluations limits his job prospects.
During his first night, in mid tour of the facility, a young girl shows up - chased by well-funded mercenaries, led by Ben Kingsley. Eddie's new supervisor, Vance - the slimy, egotistical manager we've all worked with at some point - is set up as philosophical opposition to Eddie pretty quick. Vance wants to hand the little girl over to the mercenaries and appears naïve to the situation at first.
In a bit of a bending of the genre, however, Vance does not become an inward foe to Eddie. Instead, as soon as the situation becomes clear, he steps up and at a pivotal moment relinquishes his authority over the other guards to Eddie. The whole movie could have been quite different if Vance continued to pull rank - even if only to be an annoyance since nobody liked him anyway.
