9 Superheroes Who Really Should Have Had A Movie By Now

3. Doctor Strange (Marvel Comics)

First of all, Doctor Strange has had a television movie - way back in 1978 - but that doesn't really count. He hasn't had a full-blown, theatrically-released motion picture and that's a crying shame. As previously discussed in the Doctor Fate entry, a number of supernaturally-themed characters from DC Comics have already had their own movie. Even Image's Spawn and Dark Horse's Hellboy have been given the movie treatment. So why the heck hasn't Doctor Strange? Strange is Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme - the mystical equivalent of what Charles Xavier is to mutants or what Reed Richards is to science in the Marvel universe and both of those guys have at least appeared in movies. Blade and Ghost Rider are supernatural heroes from Marvel who've had a movie before Doctor Strange and while Blade, at least, was very successful, it's still extremely confusing as to why Doctor Strange hasn't been given his own film. He's been touted for his own film for years. Everyone from Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks to Orlando Bloom and Patrick Dempsey have been linked with the role and with magic now becoming a key factor in the Marvel cinematic universe it can only be a matter of time before this inevitable movie is made. Indeed, the Eye of Agamotto - a mystical item of power strongly associated with Doctor Strange - was briefly shown in Odin's trophy room in the Thor movie way back in 2011, so you'd think we'd at least be further forward with this potential movie in 2014.
