9 Terrible Casting Decisions That Ruined Great Movies

6. Garrett Hedlund - Tron: Legacy

The odds of a sequel to 1982€™'s Tron happening seemed so bleak it was foolish to even dream about it; so when it was announced a sequel was not only happening but that Jeff Bridges would be returning, there was rejoicing in the streets. Daft Punk were hired to compose the score, the director had a captivating visual style and the trailers promised great things.

While the story of Tron: Legacy leaves plenty to be desired, the film itself is an exhilarating visual experience, helped immensely by Daft Punk€™s score. A major problem is the hero we follow is played by Garrett Hedlund, an actor with the charisma of a concrete block. His laid-back response to every situation €“ no matter how dangerous or emotional - sucks the fun out of the movie; a problem that€™'s made worse when he has scenes with actors like Bridges and Michael Sheen.

The movie was a decent size hit, but plans for a third Tron seem to have permanently stalled. If it ever does happen, don€™t be surprised if Hedlund isn'€™t invited back.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
