9 Terrible Franchise Killing Movies
4. Critters 4
Critters was clearly a rip-off of Gremlins, but that didn’t stop the movies being a bit of silly fun. The movies haven’t aged very well, though, and the series ended in the way most low budget horror franchises do when they run out of ideas; they took it to space.
This made more sense than say Leprechaun In Space did since the Critters are aliens after all, but the low-budget given to part four was never going to create a very convincing futuristic environment. The cheapness of it, combined with a lack of decent action scenes or engaging characters made it kind of a chore to sit through, and it failed to get fans excited about another adventure.
The series has been kind of forgotten about since the eighties, so none of the major studios are in a mad rush to work on a reboot, and it’s likely to remind that way.
