9 Things You Didn't Know About The Wolf Of Wall Street

1. No Goldfish Were Harmed (Supposedly)

Among the many scenes in The Wolf Of Wall Street that caused a stir among animal rights groups, the one in which Jonah Hill's character supposedly swallows a live goldfish is probably the most contentious; mainly due to the fact that it's still unclear whether Hill actually committed the deed or not. When quizzed about the scene upon the film's release Hill stated the following...
"I want everything that could be real to be real PETA wouldn€™t let me eat a real goldfish."
If you're to believe Hill's own account of the scene then the actor didn't actually eat the goldfish (and if anyone's account of the scene over anyone elses, then it's probably Hill's). However, DiCaprio also stated in interviews that he believed Hill actually ate the live goldfish without a seconds thought. One thing's definitely clear though, and that's that Hill did indeed put a live goldfish in his mouth rather than an imitation. That's acting for you - some performers are just much more committed than others.
