9 Things Everyone Gets Wrong About Comic Book Movies

2. John Blake Isn't Robin - The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises concludes with Batman's pal John Blake inhering the Batcave, and upon collecting the means to reach the hideout, is referred to by the custodian as his birth name, Robin.

This caused many to immediately groan and decry Christopher Nolan for daring to imply that the Caped Crusader's fresh-faced young helper was a modern iteration of the Boy Wonder.

Why It's Wrong: This actually wasn't the case at all, and it's clear to anyone really paying attention to the scene that Nolan intended this merely as a cute nod and reference to the character, rather than an outright declaration of Blake's new superhero identity.

Rather, it's implied that Blake becomes the new Batman, after essentially playing the Robin role throughout the film and literally "rising" in the final shot. Anything else is a fantastical, over-literal misinterpretation of Nolan's intent.
