9 Things Spectre Needs To Satisfy Diehard Bond Fans

2. It Needs To Set Up A Multi-Film Story

For some fans of the Bond book series the Blofeld trilogy of Thunderball, OHMSS, and You Only Live Twice are the apex of the novels. The story of the trilogy develops Bond as a character to a greater extent than any of the previous entries; Bond transforms from an unapologetic he-slut, to a happily married man, to a vengeful widower all thanks to his hunt for Blofeld. Eon Productions adapted the novels of the Blofeld trilogy out of order, which meant Bond and Blofeld€™s rivalry ended up appearing out of sequence and hacked up. Fans of both the book and film series should want to see the whole Blofeld saga unfold as Fleming envisioned it in its full glory. The shooting location and poster for Spectre (showing a bullet hole in ice) leads us to suspect that Spectre will be taking its cues from the snowbound OHMSS. If Spectre€™s plot hews closely to the book version of OHMSS then the epic conflict between Blofeld and Bond it instigates won€™t be able to be told in a single feature film. Fleming€™s original vision of Bond and Blofeld€™s battle of wills needs to be told in full in multiple films to satiate fans.
