9 Things That Need To Happen Before John Wick Ends
1. We Will Find Out Who John Wick’s Wife Was
For this final entry on our list, we need to go all the way back to the beginning. After all of the world-building over three films, it’s hard to watch the original and not wonder: who was this Helen person who got John Wick to leave the criminal underworld in the first place? In order to get himself out, he had to do one last job, referred to as an “Impossible Task” for Viggo Tarasov, the big bad from the first chapter. Then John and Helen spent four years in wedded bliss in an awesome house out in the New Jersey suburbs.
Was Helen a regular civilian John just happened to swipe right on on his Tinder? Well, after all this build up, and the insular nature of this criminal world, it seems much more likely that she was connected somehow to John’s job as an assassin. Are there any clues to who she could have been before they married? Now, the name of the fourth chapter has already been named “The Ballerina,” which must refer to a singular orphaned Russian ballerina, like the ones who were seen in Chapter 3. It’s very possible that Helen could be the titular character, and that the next installment will delve more into her and John’s background together. We did find out, after all, that the Director, played by Angelica Huston, raises Russian orphans, training the girls to be dancers, and the boys to be cold-blooded killers—and that John was once one of her protégés.
Well, this could be nothing, but this world is rife with symbols. There are the coins, the markers, the brandings, etc. Keeping this all in mind, when you look at the card Helen sent John in the first film, there is a circular symbol on it, which is a lot like all the other circular symbols we see throughout the series.Although this symbol isn’t shown close-up, it looks a lot like an image of a daisy; and then in the card Helen tells John that his dog’s name is “Daisy,” to which John replies, “Of course.” Could it be that Helen was involved with another organization within this world? What if “Daisy” refers to a movement consisting of those who have chosen to walk away from the criminal syndicates to live lives of peace? Furthermore, what if this sentiment from his pacifist wife comes back to bite John in the end, making him regret the spiral of violence he unleashed when he first sought revenge against the thugs who killed his dog?
Was it really all worth it, John?
