9 Things We Want To See In Doctor Strange 2
4. A Bigger Role For Wong
The relationship between Strange and Wong in the film was one of the film's many highlights. Wisely doing away with the comic book iteration of Wong as the man-servant of Strange, he is instead one of the highest ranking members of the Ancient One's order. His stone-faced seriousness played great off Strange's cocky sarcasm, and Benedict Wong was extremely charming in the role.
It's been reported that Wong will join Strange in Avengers: Infinity Wars, so it seems as though Marvel understands how well these characters work together. Despite how skilled he is, Strange is still a novice in the world of magic and works as something of an audience surrogate in that way. Wong is a perfect character to help guide Strange (and us) through this new territory.
Beyond that, these two characters just work well together. Strange is self-assured and thinks everything is owed to him, and Wong is someone who practices humility and isn't afraid to put Strange in his place. It will be interesting to see their relationship grow past comedic interplay to a genuine friendship.
