9 Things You Need To Know About Ben Affleck’s Batman
3. Affleck Didnt See Himself In The Role Initially
Prior to his being officially cast as Batman, Ben Affleck clearly shared similar reservations with some of the more cynical fans: "The only movie I actually regret is Daredevil. It just kills me. I love that story, that character, and the fact that it got f***ed up the way it did stays with me." The failure of Daredevil, however, also gave Affleck "the motivation to do Batman": "When they asked if I would be Batman, I told them I dont see myself in the role and I was going to have to beg off." Affleck changed his mind though when he heard about Zack Snyder's "incredible" approach to the character. "All of a sudden I had a reading of the character", Affleck told Playboy magazine. "When people see it, it will make more sense than it does now or even than it did to me initially." Apparently, to get Ben Affleck in a part it takes the promise of not just atonement for past mistakes, but the assurance that he'll be taking a familiar character in an original direction...
