9 TV Stars Who Horribly Botched Their Big Leap Into Films

2. John Krasinski

Steve Carell was already a budding film star when he starred on the U.S. version of The Office, and he continued to star in movies while he was on the series and after he left. However, his Office co-stars have had less big screen success €“ but not through lack of trying. John Krasinski had his first lead movie role in License to Wed, which barely scraped a profit at the box office and received a hilariously bad 7% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. He followed it up with the box office bombs Leatherheads, Away We Go, Brief Interviews With Hideous Men (which he also directed), Nobody Walks, Big Miracle, and Promised Land (which he co-wrote). The only movies he has appeared in that have actually been hits were It's Complicated and The Muppets, and he only had small roles in both of them. Like Topher Grace, audiences might love Krasinski's awkwardly loveable character on television but the same schtick doesn't sell movie tickets. Krasinksi isn't alone €“ his Office co-stars Rainn Wilson and B.J. Novak have also had difficulty launching movie careers. Only Ed Helms and, to a lesser extent, Jenna Fischer, have managed to have meaningful careers in film alongside their success on The Office.
