9 Unmade Guillermo Del Toro Projects We’d Love To See
4. The Left Hand Of Darkness
You should want to see this project for one simple reason: Del Toro has stated that “I think it’s the best screenplay I’ve ever written” in his book, The Cabinet of Curiosities. Given that he has written some damn good films, it’d be interesting to see the screenplay he considers to be his best.
In The Cabinet of Curiosities, Del Toro talks about this idea in a bit more depth. It’s adapted from the iconic revenge story by Alexandre Dumas The Count of Monte Cristo and it would essentially be a Gothic Western.
With the recent resurgence of the Western genre in the past few years, perhaps this would be a good time to see a version of the film that is a twist on both the Western genre and the classic tale.
The Count of Monte Cristo has had quite a few film adaptations, so it’d be good to see one which stands out from the crowd.
