7. 300: Rise of an Empire
Where was this movie five years ago? When Zack Snyder released 300 in 2006, his staggered-motion style of filmmaking was new and exciting. 300 was praised for it's unique look, and audiences would have gladly paid for a sequel had it been made in a timely fashion. But it's now 2013, and Snyder is old hat. Watchmen used the exact same style as 300, but all it did was expose Snyder for being a weak director in every other aspect outside of style. Then there was Sucker Punch...and that's about all I can say about Sucker Punch without collapsing into a seizure of rage and vomit. 300: Rise of an Empire will feature the same fast motion-slow motion-fast motion technique that's been worn out, but it won't even have Snyder - the man that popularized it - returning to direct. Instead, no-name Noam Murro will be reproducing the tired style created by Snyder. Toss in the fact that Gerard Butler's King Leonidas won't be featured (obviously, since he died in 300), and you've got a movie with no defined main character, no big name star, and a director that's essentially a substitute teacher.
