9 Upcoming Movie Trailers That Are Probably Tricking You
5. Nick Fury's Barely In It - Captain Marvel
The first trailer for Captain Marvel played up the presence of Marvel Cinematic Universe stalwart Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), who will appear in the 90s-set superhero origin story by way of Marvel Studios' groundbreaking digital de-aging tech.
Despite Fury getting more lines of dialogue in the trailer than Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) herself, one gets the distinct feeling Fury's role in the film is being played-up for marketing purposes.
The trailer shows three separate scenes featuring Fury, and it's reasonable to expect there will at least be a fourth in which he loses his eye, but if you're expecting him to do anything beyond pop up occasionally to drop exposition and move the plot forward, you might be left disappointed.
Given the clear desire for Danvers' coming-out party not to be overshadowed by the presence of a man and all, Fury's likely to simply show up for an "extended cameo", getting about 10-15 minutes of screen time peppered throughout.
