9 Upcoming Movies That Already Have Sequels In Development

The Sequel Already In Development: Assassin's Creed 2

This is probably the strangest entry on the entire list, given that it's the only film that isn't already a sequel. You read that right: Assassin's Creed isn't out yet, is an an adaptation of a video game (never a good sign), and the studio have already put a sequel into development. What are they thinking? Michael Fassbender has even signed on, for God's sake.

It's an odd - and unexpected - move, that's for sure, but it does tell us a couple of things about the upcoming flick, namely that the studio are probably pretty pleased with what they've ended up with; that they see a future for Assassin's Creed as a franchise, based on whatever director Justin Kurzel has presented them with, and want to get the sequel into motion as soon as possible.

Even if Assassin's Creed is a masterpiece (can you imagine?), it's still shocking that a sequel has been green-lit because this has the inherent feel of a rather risky venture. A video game movie, based on a series that is considered to be somewhat past its prime, released at Christmas time?

Wouldn't it be better to wait, just in case this movie is a huge flop? Um...
