9 Ways Suicide Squad Will Redeem The DC Movie Universe

8. It Has A Sense Of Humour

While nobody expected Adam West – or god forbid, Batman & Robin – levels of humour from Dawn Of Justice, people weren’t ready for how shockingly po-faced it was. It seemed to exist in a world where nobody is allowed to crack a joke (Jesse Eisenberg’s hamming it up doesn’t count) or even smile.

This had the knock-on effect of making it hard to relate to any of the characters or give a damn about who lived or died.

The trailers for Suicide Squad have made it clear that won’t be the case here, and the cast will be allowed to play off each other and actually have some fun with the premise. Margot Robbie looks delightful in the Harley Quinn role, and even human rice cake Jai Courtney looks set to give his first likeable performance ever.

It probably won’t be the breezy action comedy the second trailer made it out to be – this is David Ayer after all - but the occasional moment of organic humour will go a long way towards endearing people to the DC universe.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
