9 Ways The Batman V Superman Trailer Proves The Movie Will Suck
6. The Crummy Tease
Before the trailer proper Batman V Superman trailer premiered, Zack Snyder tweeted an "Official Sneak Peak", studio talk for a non-commital snippet of footage to get all the news outlets throwing out their buzzwords without actually offering anything up, giving fans just the illusion of something of worth. This is something that most modern releases have been trotting out and, bar some creative uses (see Ant-Man's tiny clip), it's a major irritant in modern movie coverage. And Dawn Of Justice takes the cake. Unlike Ant-Man's aforementioned glimpse, which at least showed something, this was nothing more than a showreel for the costume department; a shot of the Superman costume that looks straight out of the Man Of Steel behind-the-scenes and another tease of Batman's suit and then... the logo (and we'll get to that in a minute)? It was absolutely nothing, If Snyder wanted to announce his big cinema trailer screening event (something ruined by the trailer's leak online), he could have tweeted it. Insulting people with "footage" that amounts to two images we've half-seen before just makes the whole thing more of a slog than it needs to be.
