9 Weird (But Plausible) Superhero Casting Choices That Need To Happen

5. Beast - Simon Pegg

Lobo Jack Black
Marvel Comics

Beast is somewhat of a challenge to cast. The hero, whether in his furry or fur-less form, is usually depicted as rather large a kind of beast, if you will. This cleverly contrasts the massive intellect behind the blue fur, yet does not make the task of casting him any easier.

The best solution is to go down the same route as the Hulk: casting the best Bruce Banner (Hank McCoy) as opposed to the best Hulk (Beast).

Therefore, Simon Pegg should be the next actor to portray the character. Two of Pegg's most prominent roles have been of a similar archetype (the slightly sarky oddball scientist) to Beast - that being Benji in Mission Impossible and Scotty in Star Trek. A character somewhere in-between the personalities of those two would make for a superb Hank McCoy, meaning that the only difficulty Pegg would face would be having to wear copious amounts of blue make-up.
