9 Worst Billion Dollar Movies

3. Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom T Rex
Paramount Pictures

Ranking: #19

Worldwide Earnings: $1,123,794,079

This third installment is still the most successful of the endlessly-maligned Transformers series and, with hindsight, it is surprising that this turned out to be a billion dollar movie. After all, it was following Revenge of the Fallen, which is arguably one of the worst films ever made, but for some reason audiences still went back for more.

Dark of the Moon is far better than Revenge of the Fallen, but then again most films are. It is lifted up considerably by the amazing Battle of Chicago finale, which is definitely some of the best directing Michael Bay has ever done and lasts for a full half-hour, but the rest of the film lacks a lot.

Before the great finale, you've got two hours of immature humor, terrible plotting, appalling acting, offensive material and surprisingly few memorable action scenes, so it's much better just to watch the final battle and skip the rest of the movie.

At one point in time this was the 4th highest-grossing movie ever, which is a rather distressing statistic.
