9 Worst Billion Dollar Movies
1. Transformers: Age Of Extinction
Ranking: #22
Worldwide Earnings: $1,104,054,072
Many are likely to agree that Age of Extinction is the worst billion-dollar movie. Why wouldn't they?
It might have some decent scenes and solid performances here and there, but this is pretty much everything we've come to expect from the Transformers films - excessive action, bad writing, mechanical storytelling, offensive humor and general overkill on every level - but this time with different actors and stretched out to 165 minutes.
It's truly inexplicable that this ended up being a billion dollar movie, since the Transformers films are widely hated and there surely aren't enough fans of such weak material to make it so ridiculously successful. The fact that this was the highest grossing film of 2014, beating out an actually great box office top ten, is extremely upsetting.
This movie is just nearly three hours of empty spectacle that's more draining and depressing than fun and aside from the hilariously obvious product placement, there's no joy to be had from watching this.
Age of Extinction is, without a shadow of a doubt, the worst billion-dollar movie. Hopefully nothing this underwhelming will ever join the billion-dollar club again, but only time will tell.
