9 Worst Motion Captured Performances
5. Dash Mihok - I Am Legend
I Am Legend is a frustrating movie since so much of it works. Will Smith gives one of his best performances, the empty New York City is chilling and it manages to sneak a character drama into a blockbuster. It’s badly let down by a soggy third act, and truly awful CGI creature work.
Literally leading the pack is actor Dash Mihok, who plays the head “Darkseeker.” He’s the one hunting after Smith throughout the story, switching between intelligent and dumb depending on the script. Firstly he looks awful, with the CG making it look like he was pasted onto the film in post-production, which might be the case.
Secondly, Mihok’s performance consists solely of grunts and yells, and if we’re supposed to be intrigued by his character there’s not much to work with. It’s a role anyone could have played, and while the famous alternate ending actually gives the character an arc, it still doesn’t fix the issues with his performance.
