9 Worst Motion Captured Performances

3. Sam Worthington - Avatar

Sam Worthington looked ready made for stardom. Here was a hunky dude plucked by James Cameron to be the lead in Avatar, an adventure movie shot with groundbreaking technology. He was also cast in Terminator: Salvation and Clash Of The Titans, so his future looked bright.

There was only one issue; he has next to no charisma. Every single performance he gives melts together into a mosaic of scowls, grunts and blank stares. It must be fairly hard to make portraying a nine-foot blue cat person look dull, yet Worthington manages to do so.

The animators do most of the work bringing Jake Sully’s Avatar to life, while Worthington just cruises through the dialogue. There’s little sense of the torn emotions Jake should be feeling, or of any real dramatic growth with his character. He'll be returning for Avatar 2 through 29 - depending on how many sequels Cameron wants to make.

Let’s hope someone out there is waiting for the great Worthington comeback; someone besides Sam Worthington.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
