A Wrinkle In Time Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs

1. It's Got A Positive, Heartfelt Message For Kids

Accepting that A Wrinkle in Time is aimed at children, its heart is certainly in the right place, with an endearing central message about being true to yourself and not shying away from who you are.

It's especially neat to see such a diverse movie posting a message like this, and while it sometimes gets lost in the script's assault of cornball hokum, it's easy to imagine younger kids in particular connecting with what it has to say.

Though an earlier scene involving Meg's parents almost seems to suggest the film is going to pull a Tomorrowland and deviate into objectivist propaganda - as the pair decry the normies holding back their progress - this thankfully isn't expanded upon.

Ultimately, it instead settles for a far more wholesome and palatable message of acceptance and self-actualisation for kids.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
