Aladdin Trailer Breakdown: 10 Things You Need To See

6. The Day For Night Stuff Looks Awful

Remember how great the Bollywood technicolor palette of the opening of the trailer felt so surprisingly refreshing? Well, get ready to throw all of that out the window, because that's exactly what the trailer does.

Pretty much immediately following that colorful opening, we get some shots of Jafar and Aladdin talking in the desert in front of the Cave of Wonders. And it looks absolutely terrible.

This was obviously shot as day for night (shot in broad daylight only to be later color-corrected to make it look like night time), which isn't an inherently bad thing. There have been gorgeous examples of this in the past, such as the nighttime scenes in Mad Max: Fury Road. But here, it looks as though they simply desaturated and drained all of the color out of the frame, resulting in a grey and incredibly dull palette.

Sadly, this looks to also carry over into the Cave of Wonders itself, which is a real shame considering how vibrantly colorful it was in the animated version.
