Alien: Covenant - 10 Theories That Were Utter Bull

1. Shaw Ordered David To Attack The Engineers' Homeworld

The Theory: With the movie's The Crossing prologue showing David preparing to drop a payload of black goo ampules on the Engineer homeworld, it in fact turns out that Elizabeth Shaw was the mastermind behind it, ordering David to launch the strike in revenge for the black goo killing her lover Holloway and the rest of the Prometheus' crew.

The Truth: It's a mildly amusing idea, but not really in step with Shaw's mindset at the end of Prometheus. She wasn't seething with rage over Holloway's demise, but wanted to visit the Engineer planet because of her prevailing curiosity about their desire to wipe humanity out. She wanted to talk to them, not kill them.

Plus, the prologue made it pretty clear that David was acting off his own back when he prepared the black goo payload, as Shaw had been in cryo-sleep the whole time.
