Alien: Covenant - 10 Theories That Were Utter Bull

2. Daniels Is Ripley's Mother

The Theory: Daniels is revealed to be the mother of the series' much-loved original protagonist, Ellen Ripley.

The Truth: This was reported by numerous outlets in the months heading up to the film's release and sounded cynical enough to be believable, but it was a pleasant surprise that Daniels in fact turned out to be a standalone character with no link to Ripley or any other existing Alien character.

Giving her a half-baked relation to Ripley would've felt forced and on-the-nose, not to mention a lazy, desperate attempt to make the character feel more relevant.

Few are going to come away from Covenant thinking of Daniels as a classic sci-fi heroine, but at least she's able to do her own thing without being needlessly tethered to the series' iconic protagonist.
