Alien: Covenant - 12 Big Questions After The New Trailer
Is Danny McBride really going to be the most unlikely survivor of all time?
"You hear that?" "What?" "Nothing..."
Nothing except the sound of the internet getting very excited, anyway, because the big new trailer for Alien: Covenant has dropped.
Following on from the four-minute prologue released last week, the new trailer gives us our best look yet at the upcoming Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel, and the good news is it looks ruddy brilliant.
It does a great job of building up the tension and establishing the tone of the movie. It hues very closely to both Alien and Aliens - moments of sheer terror, but lots of action as well - while also having a few scenes that tie back to Prometheus.
It starts with the new crew exploring an alien world, which quickly turns from paradise into hell as the true inhabitants emerge and chaos ensues. It gives us a good look at the new Neomorph, and delivers the money shot right at the end with the new version of the Xenomorph.
Despite the reveals it thankfully doesn't give everything away, and by the time the trailer ends - and you've gotten over seeing the alien - there are a lot of questions left over.
12. What Is This New World, And Who Populated It?
Once the Covenant crew make their landing, we're introduced to a lush new planet, one with stunning landscapes as opposed to the dirtier worlds of other Alien movies.
It then quickly becomes clear that someone has previously inhabited the planet, and somehow wheat is growing on it. There's also no sound, which might not be that surprising given it's an alien planet (why exactly would you expect to hear birds?) but is stranger given the signs of life in front of them.
If this is indeed the Engineers' world, what has happened to it since? How is wheat still growing, when there's apparently no other life around? And are the Covenant crew the first humans (outside of Dr Shaw) to come there?
