12. James Franco's Death Foreshadowed?

The prologue reveals, to the surprise of many, that James Franco will in fact be playing the captain of the Covenant, but he appears only briefly in the scene as he's come down with an illness and heads off for a lie down.

What's most telling about his appearance here is that the film's first trailer saw Daniels (Katherine Waterston) refer to Billy Crudup's character as the captain, which makes it pretty clear that Franco's character is going to end up dead very early on in the movie.

It seems most likely that he's probably been exposed to a noxious element that kills him and then possibly spreads around the ship.
