ALIEN VS. PREDATOR 3 a "certainty" says studio source

Who cares right? None of us think of this existing in the same universe as the original ALIEN or PREDATOR franchise. These characters are dead to me!

Though it floundered a little after it's opening few days of release (presumably when all the fanboys had seen it), Alien vs. Predator: Requiem was still a success this Christmas and a $41 million domestic and $128 million worldwide taking show's that there are still people out there who will see these iconic characters in any old shit.

The "cheap thrills" B-movie esque cinematic battle of the giants is the lowest grossing Alien movie yet (but isn't far off Alien: Resurrection, but I guess that did kill off the original franchise) but it was made for cheap, with no actors and a bunch of first time directors so it's a hassle less movie for 20th Century Fox. I'm not particularly surprised by these comments from Shock Till You Drop...
An anonymous source over at 20th Century Fox got in touch with us over the weekend to relay the news another Aliens vs. Predator sequel is a "certainty" at this point. If you recall, the brothers Strause - who helmed the Christmas release Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem - stated Fox was going to take a "wait-and-see" approach to a third chapter, furthermore, that the story would have to continue in space.
Most certainly the plot should continue in space, it never should have moved away from that setting in the first place. At the end of the day, do we really care they are making a third Alien vs. Predator movie? The other two were cinematic disasters... does anyone really associate this with the either the Alien or Predator franchises? Both of those as far as I'm concerned ended YEARS ago, these knock-off team up movies exist in another universe. We aren't gonna see Alien vs. Predator 3 are we so to say it would be nice for them to hire a screenwriter and director who know what they are doing would be fruitless.
