12. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid
Jeff Kinney's book series has proven a huge success with young readers with a taste for toilet humour (which describes any discerning pre-teen, surely). Fox have brought the franchise to the big screen in four entries to date, most recently 2017's Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, a semi-reboot with an all new cast.
Given the four films have collectively made just over $265 million to date, they're not exactly a huge money spinner; but then, they're also very modestly budgeted, meaning they don't need to do blockbuster numbers.
Still, as with Percy Jackson, there may be questions asked as to just how much demand there really is for further Wimpy Kid movies, even if Kinney has thus far written a further eight books just waiting to be adapted.
