All The Fox Film Franchises Disney Now Owns
11. The Maze Runner
Another youth-oriented franchise adapted from a series of novels - although these ones are a tad bit harsher than Percy Jackson or Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The 2014 adaptation of James Dashner's The Maze Runner proved a little controversial as, though rated PG-13 in the US, its violence pushed it up to a 15 rating in the UK.
Not that this hurt the film, or its similarly-rated 2015 follow-up Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. The modestly budgeted films have collectively taken over $660 million at the global box office, a figure certain to swell in 2018 with the release of third instalment Maze Runner: The Death Cure.
This is poised as the final film in the series, although Dashner has written a further two Maze Runner novels.
