All The Wrong Turn Movies Ranked Worst To Best

2. Wrong Turn 2: Dead End

The straight-to-DVD sequel to a theatrically released, big bucks horror film, 2007's Wrong Turn 2: Dead End has no business being actually good; lacking in funding, star power or theatrical distribution. And yet, with director Joe Lynch at the wheel, this outing emerged as not only the best of the film's five sequels, but also the best reviewed in the whole franchise (in comparison, the 2002 original currently sits at a disgraceful 40% on Rotten Tomatoes).

Crucially, Lynch doesn't take the whole thing too seriously. Doing away with college students and tourists, Dead End follows the contestants of a reality TV show as they attempt to navigate the woods of West Virginia. Naturally, it's not long before the set is crashed by Three Finger and his Pa, picking off the kids, one by one. The key to their survival - and Dead End's success - is U.S. Marine Dale Murphy, as played by Henry Rollins.

Rollins is a riot as the ex-military guy, going head-to-head with the hillbilly brothers and their grotesque caretaker (a returning Wayne Robson, as Maynard Odets). The rest of the action isn't to be sniffed at either - opening with a hilariously horrible encounter with the cannibals for reality TV star Kimberly Caldwell. The low-fi punk energy of this demented sequel would ensure that the franchise's Dead End would turn out to be... anything but.
