Alternate Versions Of Every MCU Movie We Almost Got To See
11. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Featuring Hawkeye
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was originally supposed to feature Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) in a number of scenes, namely a fight against Cap (Chris Evans) after a lengthy chase sequence.
You see, in the original script, Clint is ordered to hunt Steve down against his wishes, so in order to avoid the wrath of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hawkeye chases Cap down but deliberately throws the fight, making his loss look convincing in the process. While he's down, he also alerts Cap to a tracking device planted on him.
However, scheduling issues put the kibosh on these plans, and Hawkeye didn't return until Avengers: Age of Ultron the next year.
Would It Have Worked?: Absolutely. It always feels a bit perfunctory when single superheroes show up for a brief cameo in another hero's movie - Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in Ant-Man, for instance - but the sheer wish fulfilment aspect of these two fighting speaks for itself.
