Alternate Versions Of Every MCU Movie We Almost Got To See
4. Spider-Man: Homecoming As A Peter Parker-Nick Fury Buddy Movie
Spider-Man: Homecoming ultimately built off the relationship between Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Tony Stark established in Captain America: Civil War, but when director Jon Watts was pitching Marvel Studios his vision of the movie, he actually had Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in mind for Parker's mentor.
The direction of Civil War ultimately quashed Watts' original idea, with Stark instead taking a supporting role opposite Spidey.
Would It Have Worked?: This would be a tough one, really. The two-hander between Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. is so damn good that it's hard to imagine Holland and Samuel L. Jackson having the same appealing rapport.
The quasi-parternal bond between Parker and Stark speaks for itself and was further deepened at the end of Infinity War, and it's not easy to see a Parker-Fury relationship having the same emotional resonance or good humour.
