The Amazing Spider-Man: 10 Spidey Movies That Must Be Made Next

5. Marvel Civil War (2022)

Clearly the movie rights issues stand in the way of this happening just yet, but there is time to work that out, especially if Marvel and Disney are able to convince Sony that everyone would stand to make a serious pile of money if they collaborated, and that interaction with other Marvel characters would be a considerable shot in the arm for a franchise that even the most ardent of fans might fear needs something new after a yearly release for five straight years. Both Andrew Garfield and director Marc Webb would both like to see Spider-Man share a screen with the Avengers, with both saying their fandom means they would love the cross-over to happen. Intriguingly, we also know that Spider-Man, who has been a member of the Avengers in the comics for about 8 years, has come quite close to being added to the MCU, as Webb confirmed that a legitimate effort was made:
"There's efforts that were made, but obviously nothing came to fruition."
Yet. Comic Book Reference Point: Marvel Civil War If Marvel are indeed going to focus on Civil War as the centre-piece for Phase Four - as we have already speculated will be part of Kevin Feige's master-plan - they will need Spider-Man, who plays a major part in Tony Stark's attempt to garner support for the Superhero Registration Act when he is convinced to publicly unmask. With Spider-Man's identity playing such a key part of his identity in the comics, he was the keystone to that part of the narrative, and it would be wrong to replace him with another hero for the film version of the story event. And if and when Sony and Marvel manage to work out a deal, having Spidey as an extended cameo might be the means to convincing Sony that leasing out the rights temporarily to make cross-overs makes financial sense, and wouldn't devalue their own universe.
