The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 10 Things It Did Right

5. Dane DeHaan As Harry Osborn

When Dane DeHaan was cast as Peter Parker's long-time friend and rival Harry Osborn, the world collectively came together and said: "Yes, that's spot-on casting. Well done to whoever made that decision. Now continue on with making the movie." Thankfully, DeHaan doesn't disappoint in his role at all, and is appropriately entertaining, creepy and charismatic all at once - just as any good Harry Osborn should be. Granted, they've meddled with his backstory a little bit (Norman Osborn is killed off very quickly, leaving Harry in charge as a CEO), but it works. In this version of the story, it's revealed that Harry was born with a hereditary genetic disease which will one day claim his life - as it did his father's - which nicely forces him towards the tragic circumstances that will render him as the Green Goblin - fans of the original comic lore are likely to scoff at the reestablishing of certain elements here (and at the make-up work done on DeHaan, which might lean a little too far towards the fantastical), but at least it's something different, right? Who wants just another reprise of James Franco's Harry Osborn, anyway?
