The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Ending: 11 Big Questions For Webb's Spidey Universe

2. Is Electro Really Dead?

When the credits rolled on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it was fairly clear that Electro was dead. In a very good set-piece - spoiled only slightly by a silly musical quip - the blue villain ends up over-charged like a battery (a plot ripped almost directly out of a Futurama episode) and disappears, seemingly dead and definitely defeated. But Jamie Foxx has been doing his utmost since September last year to hint that Electro will be back. He spoke to Total Film last year to confirm that he was in talks for the Sinister Six spin-off:
"Yes, they actually talked about it, the Sinister Six... So, fingers crossed, because when you think about it, electricity never dies, it just goes to a different place."
So, is Foxx simply misdirecting away from his character's fate at the end of the sequel? Or is he genuinely just spoiling that Webb's universe is following the laws of science that say electricity (or at least energy) cannot simply be destroyed?
