The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Ending: 11 Big Questions For Webb's Spidey Universe

1. Is Dr Kafka Being Set Up As Doc Ock?

Doc Ock The most intriguing hint in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the genesis of Doctor Octopus, who will definitely become one of the Sinister Six, as confirmed by the presence of his octo-arms in the secret basement at Oscorp. Fans might have expected Ock to be revealed in the Sinister Six movie, or at least hinted at in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, since its predecessor already looked over-stuffed, but it seems we have all been lead down a path of misdirection. That trick was pulled off further by the revelation of Dr Kafka, the formerly female (in the comics) founder of the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane, who is played in the movie by Marton Csokas of Lord Of The Rings fame. But if his gender wasn't enough of a hint that this wasn't the normal depiction of Kafka, his visual introduction hinted at something even more revelatory. The camera lingers slightly on a shot of Kafka's eyes seen through colour-tinted circular glasses, a hallmark of Doc Ock - and though his arc in the sequel leaves questions over how he could become Ock, it seems like too much of a hint (especially with the heavy Bavarian accent) to ignore.
