The Amazing Spider-Man 3: 10 Allies Who Could Help Against The Sinister Six

9. Spider-Woman

A number of characters have gone by the name "Spider-Woman" in Marvel comics' history, but the one who has assisted Spider-Man most often is probably Mattie Franklin. Franklin received her powers during "The Gathering of Five" storyline, which saw an arcane ritual take place, whereby five relics were brought together and the people who brought the relics were granted either immense power or cursed with paying the ultimate price. More specifically, each bringer was granted either power, knowledge, immortality, insanity or death. Franklin received the power, absorbing the superhuman abilities possessed by the other Spider-Women and Madame Web. As a lifelong obsessive of Spider-Man, she calls herself Spider-Woman and uses her powers to become a hero - helping her idol on a number of occasions. Whether or not a movie version of Spider-Woman would be granted her powers in this way is open to debate (indeed, whether the chosen version of Spider-Woman would even be Mattie Franklin isn't a certainty) but, essentially, it would be pretty cool for Spider-Man to get some live action backup from a female counterpart.
