AMERICAN GANGSTER writer working on real life biopic of a Bond villain?

Pint sized actor Herve Villechaize was a well known figure of 60's popular culture, best known for playing Tatoo on the t.v. Fantasy Island and for playing the Bond villain henchman Nick Nack in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. At the age of 50, after suffering from years of depression and addiction to alcohol... he shot himself during the early hours of September 4th 1993. A new movie from Steve Zaillian, the writer of AMERICAN GANGSTER... titled MY DINNER WITH HERVE will depict the last interview Herve conducted with journalist Sacha Gervasi just a few days before his. The project is setup at Mandate and Sony Pictures. Zaillian will produce, whilst Gervasi, who conducted the interview, will write and direct. He previously wrote Spielberg's THE TERMINAL and will make his feature directorial debut here according to Variety.

"Steve read the script as a short 10 years ago and always believed it would make a compelling feature," Gervasi said. "Herve wasn€™t just a pop culture icon; he was one of the most charming, cultured and dangerous people I€™ve ever met. His is the story of a unique misfit trying to find his place in the world."
I'm sold, what an interesting figure for a movie. Inevitably, as he is the most well known actor of his size working today, Verne Troyer seems to be the favourite for this but I'm not sure I would cast him... apart from being of the same height, they neither look, act or carry the same kind of presence.
