An A-Z Guide To Ryan Gosling
Q: Quirky Maybe it was part of his effort to escape the serial killer / high school football player cycle of his early career, or maybe it is just something closer to himself; but in recent years, Gosling has shown no hesitation in embracing slightly off colour characters. His most unusual performance to date has to be that of Lars Lindstrom from Lars And The Real Girl. But he also turned out a less that predictable portrayal in Blue Valentine, and looks set to do the same in The Place Beyond The Pines. In real life, Gosling hangs out by himself, reads about ghosts, mooches about in shops, sings like a haunted spirit and likes knitting! It is very easy to see why most women would be drawn to such a man. R: Real Hero No, I am not referring to the College & Electric Youth song from Drive, but rather to an incident that took place in New York City a couple of years ago. Two New Yorkers were minding their business having a tussle in the middle of a busy road over a painting, when along comes Mr Gosling to break up the party. While bystanders simply gawped at the situation, Gosling took matters into his own hands and thrusts himself between to warring men; thus bringing some clarity to proceedings. All of this was, of course, caught on video and has been doing the rounds online ever since. When questioned about the events, Gosling was quick to brush it all off and labelled the situation "embarrassing". But no matter how you want to see it, in todays world it is rare to see anyone go out of his or her way to break up a fight. It is a fine quality that fewer people seem to posses in our society. Im sure many a scheming fan has taken a cue from this situation, and now wherever he goes, Gosling is more than likely to find two teenage girls wrestling on the street. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk8uFxwP_uA S: Station 109.1 When the Mickey Mouse Club packed up, Gosling went back to live in Canada and then went on to get his next acting gig as a bullyboy and all round douchebag Jamie, in an episode of the ridiculously addictive Are You Afraid Of The Dark? The episode was titled The Tale Of Station 109.1. It was an excellent chance for a young Gosling to stretch his acting muscles, and he clearly seized the chance. He does an excellent passing of the gravy smile, and gives a superb delivery of the line: what a cheese-head. There is a lot of grinning and self-congratulatory nodding going on, and Gosling never seems to find clothes to fit him. But hey, it has Gilbert Gottfried in it too, so who can complain? This is the kind of stuff that gets future Oscar noms. For those with a real need to watch the episode, you can do so below.
