An A-Z Guide To Ryan Gosling
N: Nicolas Winding Refn
The second name in Goslings lexicon of B.F.Fs, Refn is the man responsible for turning the name of Gosling into a brand. All it took was some ultra violence, a kick ass soundtrack, and a white bomber jacket complete with scorpion logo. Refn is the puppet master behind Goslings bad side, and helped crystallize the unrefined darkness that his actor had once channeled with the likes of The Believer and Murder By Numbers. Gosling following the huge success of Refns Pusher trilogy and the so-so Bronson had personally selected him to direct Drive, and what a choice it was. Refns silky neo-noir visuals and no nonsense brutality worked perfectly with Goslings brooding isolation, and helped to fashion one of the 21st Centuries most iconic characters. The two are currently working of their next project together, Only God Forgives. It is going to be amaze-balls! O: Oscar Nominated
Oscar nominations are not exactly the cause for celebration that they once were. It now seems that most big names in Hollywood have received at least one nomination in their career, and Gosling is no different. It is, contrary to my previous statement, still an achievement for any one professional to have their work noticed in such a way. Although he missed out on the gold, and rightly so, to Forrest Whittaker, Gosling was from that point considered a proper actor. The role was that of Dan Dunne from Half Nelson, and Gosling did a terrific job in portraying the psychologically unstable high school teacher. Dans blend of arrogance and helpless isolation was prime Gosling material, and even to this day, forms a kind of model for the actors other performances. P: Punching Bag
