1. The Tone Is All Over The Place

As is a problem with many big studio horror movies, there are many times where the film's tone seems to waver, and it's unclear whether the audiences is supposed to be scared or amused.

A number of the film's big scares, particularly those involving visual effects, are more campy and goofy than scary, which makes the film feel more like a Sam Raimi movie at times rather than a legitimately scary horror flick.

Naturally, mileage will vary on just how scary or funny these moments are (and the audience you see the movie with will dictate a lot of this), but there are certainly a number of important moments that inspire more laughter than fear, and that clearly wasn't at least always Sandberg's intent (though the film does also have some genuine, intentional humour).

These issues considered, the film certainly gets more right than it doesn't, so here's everything that works...
