6. It's A Major Improvement Over The First Film

Annabelle Creation
Warner Bros.

First things first, this is unquestionably a massive improvement over the, frankly, really quite terrible original 2014 movie. Everything from the writing to the acting, direction, cinematography, editing and musical score are all vastly superior, ensuring that no matter this film's flaws, it's at least a major step in the right direction after the lazy horror stylings of its predecessor.

Whereas the first film seemed like a cynical attempt to cash in on the Conjuring franchise, this actually feels like a somewhat meaningful expansion of the universe, and even with its issues, certainly doesn't seem like a hastily-assembled effort churned out as quickly and cheaply as possible for an easy buck.
