Annabelle: Creation Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

5. The Excellent Young Cast

Annabelle Creation
Warner Bros.

Probably the most praise-worthy aspect of the entire movie is the fantastic cast of terrifically talented young actresses. Talitha Bateman as physically disabled orphan Janice and Lulu Wilson (who was also so good in last year's Ouija: Origin of Evil) as her pal Linda, are especially impressive and help bring plenty of humanity to the table.

Bad child actors can sink any movie no matter how good it otherwise is, but thankfully producer James Wan has a real knack for casting talented kids in all of these Conjuring Universe movies.

Though some of the orphan actresses do admittedly look a little old for their age (some of them are in their early-to-mid twenties and it shows), they make for a compelling team of terrified characters all the same, and yes, they can scream with the best of them.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
