4. James Gunn
Now we're getting to the distinct possibilities rather than fantasy choices. James Gunn's profile as a director took a huge leap in 2012 when he was announced as the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Studios' most ambitious and challenging component of the MCU to date. With its status as a niche comic book, Marvel no doubt thought long and hard about who to appoint as the director, and they landed on Gunn, whose eccentric work on Slither and Super should lend itself well to the quirky space opera.
How Likely Is It? With Guardians of the Galaxy just two months away from release, it's extremely likely that the movie is pretty much completed, and considering that the run-time has already been locked, the next two months will likely just focus on tightening up the visual effects. As a result, it's pretty much perfect timing for Gunn to slip into the director's chair for Ant-Man, especially if Marvel have seen a rough cut of Guardians (which they surely will have) and like what they see. It would certainly raise Gunn's profile even higher, and if Gunn has nailed one niche, quirky comic book adaptation, why not give him another one to work on?
