Ant-Man And The Wasp: 10 Reasons To Be Excited
7. We Could Be Returning To The Quantum Realm
As things currently stand, Ant-Man and Doctor Strange remain the MCU's trippiest two films; the former for Lang's journey into the 'quantum realm', and the latter, well, for just about everything really.
Ant-Man's descent into the quantum realm may have been a visual spectacle, but it's also important to remember that it was a very claustrophobic sequence - the idea of being sucked into an infinite state of nothingness is a pretty terrifying one to consider, and, for Janet van Dyne, one she's contemplated for decades.
Pym's attempts to return his wife to the land of the normal-sized were, undoubtedly, galvanised by Lang's nigh-miraculous escape from the realm at the end of the first film. The resulting fallout of Civil War may have put his plans on hold, but it's obvious that he'll be going to great lengths to mount a rescue, especially since it's apparent that the realm isn't the death sentence it once was.
As Doctor Strange showed so brilliantly, mind-bending visuals work best when they come in nice little Marvel-shaped packages. If Ant-Man and The Wasp can offer a repeat, then it's likely we could see one of the most visually impressive comic book adaptations yet.
